The Cinnabar Moth is native in many areas of the world, however it was introduced into New Zealand as a form of bio-control for the Ragwort weed.

In actuality the cinnabar has red and black colouring; however when the light hits its wings the black appears silver in colour. I have tried to imitate this effect through the use of metallic paint, showing silver highlights on the wings when it catches the light.
