The Welcome Swallow can be recognised by it’s fast flying and acrobatics, as well as it’s characteristic tail. They are often seen in mass groups perched on phone lines or fences.

The welcome sparrow - named so as it is a ‘Herald of Spring' in southern Australia. They self-introduced themselves to New Zealand, from Australia in the 1950s.
